I still remember feeling overwhelmed, standing in front of a large white altar. There was still plenty of noise around the Church, various family members finding their seats, getting comfortable for what was surely going to be one of the most important day's of my life. I remember feeling a little guilty for not helping out more with all of the various Wedding arrangements. I was seeing the flowers for the first time & thinking WOW.
The music started, Pacobells Canon. I felt truly sick. I knew the Bridesmaids were behind me and dare not turn around.
If I could have captured that image at that point.
I felt my head move around to the left, I didn't tell it to, auto pilot just kicked in. Suddenly there were no friends or family, there were no bridesmaids. There was just Beccy. Words simply do not exist to describe my feelings. I truly was in awe of her.
I did hear the gasp from around the Church as my gaze came to rest upon the deepest blue eyes I had ever seen. I think the only reason I wasn't sobbing like a child, was that I couldn't breathe at the time.
If I could have only captured that image, at that point.
Through all of the various memories we have, one of the most poignant has to be that moment, in a little Church in England, when I looked into her blue eye's and felt truly humbled in her presence.
We are lucky, we get to replay that moment just about every week. I see beautiful Brides walking up behind terrified Grooms, I feel his nerves as he turns around to face the most amazing person in his life. I see his eye's meet hers, I see him swallow, I raise my camera and capture not only this wonderful image but also his feelings, the focus is on his eyes, heavy with reluctant tears.
We regularly smile at the thought of Beccy openly crying as the Bride say's "I do" & my inability to breathe as the Brides Father, during his speech tells of his love for his Daughter.
